Michael Durham – Travelling Large
The Art Exchange
247 Wortley Road
September 7-25, 2010

Michael Durham’s Call to Prayer, acrylic on board, 85 x 94 inches.
When most of us go on a trip, we take tons of pictures then store them in digital form or paste them into albums for future viewing. Michael Durham takes it a step further. He uses his annual trips to exotic places as a springboard for his art.

August 31-September 11
The ARTS Project, 203 Dundas Street

Sarah Cowling’s “Under the Crust”
Sarah Cowling’s artist statement declares that she wants the viewer to feel free “to discover what they wish” in her work. And so, as I wandered through the North Gallery of The ARTS Project, I did just that.

The Art Exchange, 247 Wortley Road

“Station 1, Ablution” by Candy McManiman
Sometimes I Wish I Were A Fish successfully marries the figurative work of Candy McManiman with the flat decorative work of Annette Martin. The result is a thoughtful and enchanting exhibition.

FCG Annual General Meeting
258 Richmond Street London Ontario
I confess that I am an AGM (Annual General Meeting) junkie. It started many decades ago when Labatt held their AGM in London. Being the proud owner of one whole share, I scurried down to the big tent in Harris Park for the meeting. There I was greeted, had my name ticked off and was directed to the bar area because I was early. There were samples of all the Labatt’s products. I was in seventh heaven.
I started to go to Museum London’s AGM; much like Labatt their AGM is short and feel-good in nature. In the last two years Museum London held their meeting first and then served wine, cheeses and chocolate-covered strawberries. Sometimes I was the only attendee, which had its advantages.
